Awesome stuff, great video. Do you know how much of this is structurally taught and demanded verses how much of this is players playing smart, instinctive, and aggressive switching defense? It's obviously a combination of both but would love to know to what extent are these rotations taught. Even more so, I would love to know how the Rensselaer coach instills these rotations while still having his players play hard and discipline while guarding on-ball. I would imagine that when players realize they can get blown by and someone else will pick-up their man, the soundness and quality of the on-ball defense would decline.

Thanks for posting! In my opinion, their concepts are so much more sound than Syracuse’s zone. They get better pressure on the ball, the corners keep vision and get matched so much better, and their big is really good at rim protecting without fouling. The ability of their guards to play tandem to take away the high post also enables the middle man to play lower and take away the post and short corner, along with communicating to the corner defenders. I also like the footwork of their corner defenders.

It's not a very disciplined system

To me the defense doesn't really look tough to beat, the problem is MSU's zone offense is awful.

This is the year they ran the fire trucks up and down Main Street in Gas City all night then lost to Madison-Grant in the sectional final. 65 years since their last sectional title!
